Glide along the Petaluma River in your spookiest costume for the 4th annual Witches & Wizards on The Water! This community-led event began with just eight witches paddling in the basin, but this year, in response to popular demand, The Floathouse has arranged for a Trick-or-Treat route visiting our riverside neighbors, costume judging, as well as selfie opportunities. Come join in the fun!
This year there will be a costume contest from 12 to 1 pm. Contestants will check in at The Floathouse, give relevant information to our staff, and head out to Grand Central Petaluma on their boats, boards or water bikes to parade before a foursome of carefully chosen judges. Prizes will include gift certificates from local sponsors and will cover several categories. If you want to sign up ahead of time, do so on this Google Form.
The brand new Trick-or-Treat Water Trail will feature six stations on the river, over a 1.5-mile course, where you can pick up treats all day long in one of our unique Trick-or-Treat bags or your own pillowcase, pumpkin basket, etc. These will be at North Bay Rowing Club (docks), Friends of the Petaluma River (docks), Grand Central Petaluma (anchored boat), Sea Scouts (anchored boat on public docks on the west side of the basin), Estuary (basket lowered from land on Water Street) and Brewsters (ditto)! Enjoy the day on the water with your community!
The Floathouse will be open all day (10-5) and will have both 90-minute and 2-hour rental slots, to allow plenty of time for showing off costumes and collecting treats up and down river. Those with their own boats or boards are of course welcome too!
(Floathouse launching and landing will be available as space allows. Public docks are also available for boat owners.)
